Florence Lyn says
I grew up with my grandparents, being called ‘Lyn’ and at 6 years old my Primary school teacher told me that my first name was Florence.I was horrified and instantly hated the name as it sounded very old fashion. During my teens, I would get so upset when called ‘Flo’ which really had a negative impact on my emotional well-being as I honestly preferred being called Lyn. I am now 68 years old and have gracefully grown into the name Florence but Lyn is still my preferred choice.. I sometimes feel thatI have two personalities; Florence being the well grounded, sensible type and Lyn the jovial free spirited.other.
Josie says
That’s quite a way to find out your name isn’t what you thought it was! I can understand not liking the nickname Flo, Florrie would be my preferred nickname I think. I know lots of older people find the trend for vintage names quite strange, but they really are beautiful!
