Parenting Life and Humour

Parenthood came as a massive shock to me. Frankly, it still throws me plenty of curve balls even ten years in. While I’ve found things easier as my children have grown older, motherhood still isn’t my vocation. I have coped with much of parenting by trying to see the funny side and the posts I’ve written about that are in the parenting humour section, hopefully they’ll give you some light relief.

In the parenting Life section you’ll find more general posts about being a parenthood including how I’ve coped with the struggles and the mistakes I’ve made. I’ve written about what parenting is like as an introvert, how I cope with parenting and migraines and how much I hate playing!

The Best Toys for Each Age Group

Written by Josie

Toys for different age groups

Kid’s these days seem to have thousands of toys. Ours are overflowing from cupboards, taking over the living room, stacked in the kid’s rooms and there are so many in the loft that I sometimes fear for the structural integrity of our house. I am not a minimalist by any means, and I’m certainly not a clean freak. I do however, hate clutter. The more stuff I have, the more stressed I feel. For me possessions are something if a burden. This hatred of clutter wasn’t really a problem until I became a parent. Whenever I felt overwhelmed […]

Raising an Extrovert Child (When you’re a Raving Introvert)

Written by Josie

While I wouldn’t necessarily describe Chris as a classic introvert, he certainly appreciates the benefits of time alone. None of his family are particularly extroverted. My Dad is […]

How to Deal with Hell’s Itch – The Worst Kind of Itchy Sunburn

Written by Josie

Avoiding hell’s itch in Children by applying sunscreen

Hell’s itch (also sometimes called Devil’s Itch) may sound like something you get “downstairs” but it’s actually a rare, itchy and painful reaction to the process of sunburn healing. It’s torture for adults and hell’s itch in children is even worse. I feel like a terrible parent for letting it happen to my child but […]
