The name Kai wasn’t used at all in the western world until the 1970s when it started to get a few uses each year. It has grown steadily since then and has been used around between 2000 and 3000 times a year in the last few years.
Kai was the 71st most popular baby name in the USA in 2021 and one of only two boys names beginning with K in the top 100, the other one was Kayden. The name Kai didn’t appear in the top 100 names in the UK 2020.
