The Christmas Blog Tag

Green holly with red berries.

I was tagged by Emma from Emma Reed in the Christmas blog tag, basically I’m going to answer some questions about Christmas so you can find out how we spend it. If you like this sort of thing you can also check out the October Blog Tag.

What’s your favourite Christmas Movie?

I’m going to sound like a misery but actually don’t really like Christmas movies!

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

We stay at home and are usually joined by my in laws and my friend with her little boy for Christmas lunch, plus my brother in law and sister in law pop in during the morning with their little boy.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holidays?

I actually don’t think I’d want to be anywhere but home for Christmas Day but I would love to do a proper festive shopping trip to the Christmas market in Bruges.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

We open them on Christmas morning, usually in stages, Santa’s ones as soon as we come down, then Mummy and Daddy’s, then other people’s as they arrive. We also open some on Boxing Day when we go to my Mum’s house for the day.

Do you have a favourite Christmas Memory?

The Christmas my husband proposed. He did it on Christmas morning in our flat. It was lovely to then go and visit everyone on Christmas Day and tell them our news. We also announced my first pregnancy on Christmas Day so that’s a happy memory too.

Be honest: Do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

Giving, specifically to my kids. My husband is hard to buy for but the kids are easy and it’s such fun finding things I know they’ll love.

Favourite Festive Food?

I hate dried fruit and am not that keen on roast dinners so for me Christmas is all about cheese and chocolate!

Favourite Christmas Scents?

Cinnamon. I always use it in the reindeer food we make.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

We do a Christmas Eve box (made by me, not delivered by the elves). It has new PJs, hot chocolate, marshmallows, Christmas mugs, popcorn, a film to watch reindeer food, a special key for Santa to get in, th Christmas story to read before bed and our Christmas cards to the kids. They have a bath after lunch then come down in their dressing gowns to open it.

What Tops your Tree?

We have two. The main family one that I let the kids decorate (and only move a few things around!), that has a green glittery star on top. The other tree is a black one that we’ve had since it was just the two of us, I decorate very simply and it has an angel on top.

Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Hmmm, not actually sure, ask my Mum!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

The Pogues, Fairytale of New York.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake all the way, I’ve got enough cleaning to do without adding needles into the mix.

Are you a professional present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m rubbish but as long as it’s covered I don’t think it matters, the kids definitely don’t care!

What makes the holidays special for you?

Being with my family and seeing my children so excited.

I now tag the following bloggers to answer the questions: Lisa from Mumma Scribbles, Naomi from Trips with a Tot, Beth from Twinderelmo, Kate from Confessions of a New Mummy, Karina from Mums the Nerd and Fariba from Mixed Up Mama I look forward to reading your answers.
